Ruth Wakefield has created a new snack today, in 1930! These 'Toll House Crunch Cookies' are now being sold in a local roadside inn she works for. However, I feel that the name 'Chocolate Chip Cookies' would fit it better. Ruth says she made the first batch by accident. She ran out of baker's chocolate, so she used some semi-sweet chocolate bits instead. However, instead of absorbing into the rest of the cookie, like Ruth expected to happen, it produced delicious sugar cookies with melted chocolate bits. These cookies have quickly become a local favorite! They've been so successful, that big Bostonian newspapers are trying to get her recipe. What a treat!
